A LDR Story: Our Second Visit (2018)

Ah, 2018. Such a busy year for J and I... and we somehow managed to fit not one but two visits into it! It was an incredibly fortunate year and one full of fun and surprises.

Following our September visit at the end of 2017, J returned home and we hadn't really set a plan for the next time. And let me tell you, that HURTS. Leaving the airport not knowing when you'll see your partner next sucks. 0/10 do not recommend. However, despite us not knowing about our next visit going into the new year, we did end up seeing each other again! J returned to Canada in April of 2018 after my semester of university ended and I had a break between school finishing and starting work for the summer.

During our second visit, things felt as normal as ever. We had recently switched from using Skype and Kik to message and call to WhatsApp which let us message without as many difficulties (we were having a lot of issues with the other two apps near the end). We were talking everyday prior to J's arrival and finding new activities to do all of the time. Before J returned to Canada, we remade a list of things for us to check out during his 2 week visit, which allowed me to book us a hotel in the city and a few activities for us to enjoy.

We revisited areas, check out new places, and really enjoyed seeing B.C. for the beautiful place it is that time of year. The weather held out (for the most part) and I liked getting to drive J around to show him areas I frequented growing up, reliving old memories and sharing stories he heard before.

While J was staying with me, we went to the zoo, painted ceramic pieces, ate blizzards from Dairy Queen (his first time!), went for bike rides and walks, and took a lot more pictures together than the first visit!

Beginning to end, our second visit was somehow better than the first! I think that booking a hotel for us to stay in away from my house (which I share with family) and in a city we could explore was a huge plus. Even just a one night stay was really awesome (especially because it was J's fist time in a hotel!) and I highly recommend going to stay somewhere overnight if possible. Even though I had been to the area we stayed in previously, it was a whole new world going there with J and seeing things as brand new through his POV.

By the time our second visit came to an end, we had an idea of when we would see each other again and this time I was going to Scotland!
