Welcome to Bean Adventures: A Long Distance Story!

Hi, I'm Aut (she/her)! I'm a Canadian from a small town who always dreamed of seeing the world. If you have ever lived in a small place I'm sure you recognize the feeling. Knowing that something better is out there. Feeling like day trips and adventuring in your area could be so much more than it is. Having that desire to travel and see new places. That's me. I have a huge interest in visiting new places, far and wide. I never knew what was in store for me after graduating from high school. That is, until I met J.

Meet J (he/him). My partner. The second bean of Bean Adventures and this LDR (long distance relationship) story. J is from Scotland, in a city bigger than my tiny Canadian town, who never believed he would see more of the UK, never mind travel the world. When we met in 2016, neither of us expected anything to come from an in-game conversation and later an exchange of messenger details.

Lucky for us, our chance meeting online from half way around the world has turned into 6 years of back and forth trips between B.C. and Scotland, and local travels within those destinations. We have big dreams of seeing more of the world and even bigger plans to continue our adventures once we close the distance in January 2023.

I hope to use this blog as a place to share our LDR stories, advice, tips, and anything travel related. Of course our adventure hasn't always been a happy one (looking at you, COVID-19 pandemic), and while these moments will be shared in my posts, I want this blog to be a positive thing. I want to inspire others to see the world in the way we do, whether that's the world right outside your door, or further than you could ever imagine going.
